MGM SPRINGFIELD & MASSMUTUAL CENTER WRAP UP EPIC WEEKEND

The City of Firsts Welcomes Three First Time Events

Springfield, Mass (June 13, 2023) - Western Massachusetts just experienced one of its busiest weekends in recent history, welcoming tens of thousands of sports and entertainment fans to the City of Springfield. The four-day stretch featured local and world class entertainment, capped off by a major, first-to-the city sporting event. Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics company that analyzes data of visitors and events, estimates the economic impact of the weekend at over $3.5 million. The energy and excitement of the weekend drove more than just ticket sales as visitors filled restaurants, bars, hotels, parking lots and other City venues.

Events at the MassMutual Center:

  • Thursday, June 8: Tina Fay & Amy Poehler took the stage to a SOLD OUT house as part of their Restless Legs tour

  • Saturday & Sunday, June 10 & 11: Bruno Mars SOLD OUT both nights!

  • Sunday, June 11: More than 1,500 athletes took part in the first ever Ironman 70.3 Western Massachusetts. The MassMutual Center served as home base to athletes as the triathlon started and ended in Springfield.

This incredible weekend would not have been possible without the tremendous support and partnership of MGM Springfield, which also manages the MassMutual Center. The resort, celebrating its 5th anniversary this August, also experienced at-capacity crowds as nationally known Psychic Medium Matt Fraser took the stage Friday & Saturday night inside the property’s Aria Ballroom, the Free Music Fridays concert series on the MGM Springfield Plaza continued with fan favorite Brass Attack, and ROAR! Comedy Club welcomed comedian Brian Glowacki.
